Ivory | Crepe Silk Ribbon

BOTANICALLY DYED
Violette silk ribbons are hand dyed in small batches using botanical ingredients and traditional techniques – sustainably crafted without the use of synthetic dyes. Subtle variations and organic markings often occur as a result of the natural dye process. This is to be expected, and in our opinion is what makes them so beautiful. Each ribbon tells it’s own story, capturing and preserving a memory of seasons past. Even though we use the same colour recipes, no two batches are ever exactly the same. Our palette is always evolving – ebbing and flowing with the seasons – a melody of natural hues. Over time you can expect subtle shifts in colour. This is the nature of botanical dyes and is part of their magic.

HAND TORN
These ribbons are painstakingly torn by hand, one-by-one, resulting in softly frayed edges which are perfectly romantic and oh so pretty. You can expect some slight shedding with use. Simply remove any fly away threads by gently pulling them away from the edge of the ribbon, taking care to prevent any tangles. Due to the hand crafted nature of our ribbons, sizes are approximate and may vary slightly.

CREPE SILK
An elegant silk ribbon with a soft, slightly matte lustre and subtly textured look and feel. Crepe silk is naturally slightly stretchy, resists wrinkles and falls beautifully into a soft and graceful drape.

SPOOLS
Full length silk ribbon comes wound on a signature Violette spool. Hand crafted in studio from Tasmanian Oak and Mother of Pearl (otherwise known as nacre), our spools have been beautifully designed to be kept and treasured. Mother of Pearl is a naturally formed material produced by molluscs, therefore each spool is unique, featuring organic textures and patterns in iridescent shades of white, champagne and grey, some mottled with flecks of brown.

BULK OPTIONS

In some instances, we offer bulk options for larger quantities of ribbon – perfect for those larger projects. If you select an option marked as ‘bulk’, please note that multiple 3m lengths of ribbon will be consolidated onto a single spool. A great way to reduce waste and save while you’re at it!

SAMPLES
To help you select the perfect ribbon, we offer samples for purchase (while stock lasts) so you can see and feel our ribbons in person before investing in our full length spools. Violette samples feature a short length of ribbon, wrapped around a premium embossed card – perfect for designers, florists and stylists.

Part of the unique nature of botanical dying is that colours may subtly shift over time. We encourage you to embrace this evolution as nature takes it’s course. It is, after all, what makes them so magical! It also means a little extra love and care is needed when looking after your Violette silks.

Due to this, and the hand crafted nature of our products, our order processing and lead times may vary.
